Thirty-three USATF Colorado members competed in the 2022 USATF Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.  The championships were the qualifying event for next month's World Athletics Championships to also be held in Eugene.  The top three athletes in each event who also met the world championship entry standards qualified to represent Team USA at the world championships.

Hillary Bor (Colorado Springs, Colorado/USATF Colorado) became a back to back U.S. 3000m steeplechase champion, using a 60.67 final 400m to break up a pack of four and pull away for a decisive victory in 8:15.76.

Patsy Pfaff of Arvada is turning 70 this month and finishing her 100th half marathon at the Summer Breeze Half Marathon in Arvada on June 25. She started being active 14 years ago and took up walking. She says she's now logged 10,000 miles and has completed races in 12 states. She often listens to audio books when she trains, if she's by herself, but loves working out with friends the most. We interviewed Patsy to find out why she loves races and what motivates her to keep going when so many her age are slowing down.

Adam Rich and Megan Deschang won the Flamingo Day 5K on Sunday, June 5. Rich ran 16:00 over the 5K course at Sloan's Lake Park in Denver to capture the victory. Deschang cruised over the 3.1 miles in 19:15 to be the first female and fifth overall runner.

The Bacon Burner 6k is a 3.8 mile out-and-back run that will take place on a paved recreational trail on Saturday, June 18 at 9:30am at the Frisco Bay Marina. All racers will receive a commemorative Bacon Burner item. All registrants 21 and older will also receive a free beer ticket to redeem at the Frisco BBQ Challenge.

On Saturday, May 21, Amy Armstrong of Evergreen ran to a national title as she won the W45-49 division in a time of 5:13 at the USATF Masters 1 Mile Championships in Rochester, N.Y.
