The USATF Mountain Ultra Trail championships calendar is set for 2024. Eleven events will be staged featuring distances from 10 kilometers to 100 miles as well as 24 hours, on road, trail, and mountain terrain. Nine states – Nevada, New York, New Hampshire, California, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Arkansas, Utah, Wisconsin – will host a championship with two of those states (Utah and Wisconsin) earning the honor of hosting two championships.

Colorado reversed a decade-long surge in traffic fatalities with 716 deaths recorded in 2023, a decrease of 6% compared with the record-setting 764 fatalities in 2022. But Colorado Department of Transportation data reflects a continued shift toward what authorities describe as high-speed reckless driving and increased roadway fatalities involving pedestrians and bicyclists.

The stretch of road on which champion cyclist Magnus White was killed was Colorado Highway 119, commonly referred to as Diagonal Highway, which connects Boulder to Longmont. It is a heavily used road by cyclists, as it serves as one of the only connectors between Boulder and the quieter, rural farm roads north of town.

In its 39th year of honoring the nation's most elite high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Porter Middaugh of Battle Mountain High School is the 2023-24 Gatorade Colorado Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year. Middaugh is the first Gatorade Colorado Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year to be chosen from Battle Mountain High School.

In its 39th year of honoring the nation's most elite high school athletes for excellence on and off the field of play, Gatorade announced Addison Ritzenhein of Niwot High School as the 2023-24 Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. Ritzenhein was selected from more than 300,000 other student-athletes who compete in high school girls cross country nationwide.

On Saturday, December 9th, 2023, 160 athletes representing 11 clubs from Colorado competed at the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. The competition was held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park, the site of numerous NCAA championships, including the 2012, 2015, and 2017 Division I championships.

On Saturday, December 9, 2023, 21 athletes and three teams from Colorado competed in the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida. A total of 850 athletes competed in the five races.
