Two Boulder Road Runners Teams Podium; Zoldak and Ostwald Win at Club Championships in Florida

On Saturday (9-Dec) 21 athletes and three teams from Colorado competed in the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida. A total of 850 athletes competed in the five races (Open Men 10 km, Open Women 10 km, Masters Women 6 km, Masters Men 40+ 10 km; Masters Men 60+ 8 km).

The Colorado highlights were:

MASTERS MEN

  • Boulder Road Runners M70+ team winning the team title.  The team’s scoring athletes were Bruce Kirschner,  Gary Ostwald, and Doug Bell.
  • Boulder Road Runners M50+ team finishing second (56 to 59 points against the West Valley TC).  The team’s scoring athletes were Frank Zoldak, Chris Grauch, Flavio De Simone, Glen Mays, and Michael Mallon
  • Frank Zoldak (Boulder Road Runners) winning the M55-59 division by 2 minutes 27 seconds. His time on the 10 km course was 34:53.
  • Boulder Road Runners teammates Gary Ostwald and Richard Katz finishing first and third, respectively in the men’s 75-79 division. Ostwald’s winning time was 37:38 as his margin of victory was 1 minute 16 seconds.
  • Chris Grauch (Boulder Road Runners) finished second in the men’s 50-54 division running 35:03.

MASTERS WOMEN

  • The Boulder Road Runners W50+ team finishing fourth with 41 points. They were just seven points short of third place and a visit to the awards podium.  The team’s scoring athletes were Charlie Woodcock, Allyson Serrao, and Lesia Atkinson.
