Hafer, Richardson Win Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon

Chilly temperatures greeted participants of the 36th Annual Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon on Saturday morning at Georgetown Lake.  Over 2,000 participants made their way down the Clear Creek Valley and into Idaho Springs for the post-race festivities under sunny skies and warmer temperatures.

Colorado’s Roth Breaks 35-Year-Old USA H.S. Steeplechase Record

When it comes to records, 35 years is a pretty darn long time. Rewind the clock back three and a half decades and the calendar reads 1979. Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" was atop the music charts, a gallon of gasoline cost 90 cents, and Bill Rodgers was Boston Marathon champion (his third of four wins).

Kilian Jornet Sets New Hardrock 100 Record, Boulder’s Darcy Piceu Grabs Third Win

The Hardrock 100 Endurance Run is known as one of the toughest ultras in the world.  Taking place in the heart of the San Juans, the 100-mile run boasts a head-shaking 33,992 feet of climbing and 33,992 feet of descent for a total elevation change of 67,984 feet, with an average elevation of 11,186 feet.  The lowest point of the course is 7,680 feet in Ouray, and the highest point is a whopping 14,048 feet at Handies Peak.  Needless to say, the race consistently attracts some of the world's best ultrarunners year after year, and  2014 was no different.

Colorado’s Bailey Roth Set National Record In 2,000 Meter Steeplechase

Colorado's Bailey Roth brought the crowd to its feet here at New Balance Nationals Outdoor 2014, establishing a new national high school record for the 2000m steeplechase. Roth's 5:41.67 showing was just one highlight stemming from the distance events on the second day of competition at America's high school track and field championships.

Howell, Wilhelm Win Steamboat Marathon; Long, Wrenn Win Half Marathon; Du Pasquier, Waller Win 10K

Participants, spectators and locals alike couldn't have asked for a better weekend for the Steamboat Marathon. Beginning Friday afternoon, the town of Steamboat began to buzz as visitors arrived and the town woke up from its winter slumber. Thousands of people converged on the town, with almost 1,500 taking part in the Steamboat Marathon races. The event hosted a full marathon, half marathon and 10K. Both the marathon and half marathon were a point-to-point, net-downhill course along the Elk River, and the 10K wound around the town, finishing at the city Courthouse.

Colorado Running Hall of Fame Announces 2014 Inductees

The Colorado Running Hall of Fame Selection Committee announces the 2014 inductees into the Colorado Running Hall of Fame: Constantina Diţă, Simon Gutierrez, Anita Ortiz, Rick Trujillo, and Priscilla Welch. The 8th annual induction ceremony and reception will be held on Wednesday, April 9th at the Denver Athletic Club. Olympic running legend Frank Shorter, an inductee in the inaugural 2007 class, will be the keynote speaker. The Colorado Running Hall of Fame recognizes Coloradans for their remarkable achievement and influence on the sport of distance running.

Rich, Ford Win Valentine’s Day 5K

Love was in the air Sunday morning at Wash Park as hundreds of participants came out in the gloomy and cold weather to take part in the Valentine's Day 5K.  The race was the fourth installment of BKB Limited's RUNDENVER Race Series, and proved to be a hit, regardless of the weather, as runners and walkers alike took to the classic Wash Park route, and then celebrated at the post-race festivities that included awards, food and warm beverages for all.
