Colorado Man, 91, Becomes Oldest Person to Cross Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim

Wearing a sun hat, aviator sunglasses, and a heavy backpack, John Jepkema of Craig, Colorado leaned against the Bright Angel Trailhead. To anyone passing, Jepkema looked like just another of the 5.9 million people who visit the Grand Canyon each year. But after an exhausting five-day overnight trek, Jepkema, at age 91, had become the oldest person to cross the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim on foot.

Boulder’s Guenter Wins Ironman 70.3 Happy Valley

Central Pennsylvania’s beautiful landmarks and stunning scenery played host to the inaugural edition of IRONMAN® 70.3® Pennsylvania triathlon on Sunday, July 2. Participating athletes were treated to an IRONMAN 70.3 journey through Happy Valley and the iconic Penn State University campus that included rolling hills of central Pennsylvania. In the age group men’s race, Matthew Guenter (Boulder, Colo.), in the 25-29 age group, was the first to cross the line with a time of 4:19:30. Caroline Moyer (Malvern, Pa.), also in the 25-29 age group, crossed the finish line first in the women’s race with a time of 5:00:55.

The Cookie Chase 5K run and walk will return to Denver for a fourth year on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Sloan’s Lake Park in Denver. With themed shirts, finisher’s medals, disposable bib chip timing, free photo downloads, and more, this is a great value and a family friendly fun run and walk. Snow Causes Course Change at Leadville Marathon

The Leadville Race Series crew has been putting in the work on Mosquito Pass (which sits at 13,185 feet) for this Saturday. However, despite their best efforts to clear Mosquito Pass, Mother Nature has prevailed with heavy snow and freezing temperatures and the Life Time Leadville Trail Marathon & Heavy Half presented by La Sportiva will unfortunately not be able to reach the summit of Mosquito Pass on Saturday. 

Colorado’s Zoe Baker Wins Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in Debut

The 25th running of the Rock ‘n’ Roll® Running Series San Diego hosted 27,000 registered runners from all 50 states and 42 countries, regions, and territories for the largest marathon and half marathon weekend on the West Coast of the United States. Participants joined in the “25 Years Running” celebration as they took on a running tour of America’s Finest City through 5K, Half Marathon, and Marathon distances.

Sayre Breaks National 25K Record

Roger Sayre, 65, of Golden broke the existing U.S. masters 65-69 25K record in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Competing in the Amway River Bank Run, Sayre stopped the clock at 1:40:41. The existing record of 1:41:39 held by Alex Ratelle was set thirty-two years ago.
