Colorado Man, 91, Becomes Oldest Person to Cross Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim

Wearing a sun hat, aviator sunglasses, and a heavy backpack, John Jepkema of Craig, Colorado leaned against the Bright Angel Trailhead. To anyone passing, Jepkema looked like just another of the 5.9 million people who visit the Grand Canyon each year. But after an exhausting five-day overnight trek, Jepkema, at age 91, had become the oldest person to cross the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim on foot.

Boulder’s Guenter Wins Ironman 70.3 Happy Valley

Central Pennsylvania’s beautiful landmarks and stunning scenery played host to the inaugural edition of IRONMAN® 70.3® Pennsylvania triathlon on Sunday, July 2. Participating athletes were treated to an IRONMAN 70.3 journey through Happy Valley and the iconic Penn State University campus that included rolling hills of central Pennsylvania. In the age group men’s race, Matthew Guenter (Boulder, Colo.), in the 25-29 age group, was the first to cross the line with a time of 4:19:30. Caroline Moyer (Malvern, Pa.), also in the 25-29 age group, crossed the finish line first in the women’s race with a time of 5:00:55.
