Sayre Breaks National 25K Record

Roger Sayre, 65, of Golden broke the existing U.S. masters 65-69 25K record in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Competing in the Amway River Bank Run, Sayre stopped the clock at 1:40:41. The existing record of 1:41:39 held by Alex Ratelle was set thirty-two years ago.

“The River Bank Run is a great event, and there is a good reason that it has been on the USATF championship road race circuit for more than 25 years! Fortunately, weather held out and it stayed a little cooler than the forecast and I was able to achieve my goal,” Sayre said.

Sayre’s record is pending ratification by USATF.
