Battling snow and cold, Pell, Spillman, and Clark Take wins at the Leadville Trail Marathon presented by La Sportiva

The Leadville Trail Marathon and Heavy Half presented by La Sportiva, owned and produced by Life Time, welcomed a field of approximately 1500 runners representing all 50 states and six countries, to Leadville’s high country on Saturday. The marathon and half marathon events typically take runners up to 13,185 feet at Mosquito Pass, the highest continuous pass in the country. Despite the event team’s best efforts to clear Mosquito Pass, due to Leadville’s colder spring that brought snow and freezing temperatures, both courses were altered to turn around slightly below the summit. Additional mileage was added elsewhere to maintain course distances of 26.2 and 15.7 miles respectively.

Snow Causes Course Change at Leadville Marathon

The Leadville Race Series crew has been putting in the work on Mosquito Pass (which sits at 13,185 feet) for this Saturday. However, despite their best efforts to clear Mosquito Pass, Mother Nature has prevailed with heavy snow and freezing temperatures and the Life Time Leadville Trail Marathon & Heavy Half presented by La Sportiva will unfortunately not be able to reach the summit of Mosquito Pass on Saturday.

Colorado’s Zoe Baker Wins Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in Debut

The 25th running of the Rock ‘n’ Roll® Running Series San Diego hosted 27,000 registered runners from all 50 states and 42 countries, regions, and territories for the largest marathon and half marathon weekend on the West Coast of the United States. Participants joined in the “25 Years Running” celebration as they took on a running tour of America’s Finest City through 5K, Half Marathon, and Marathon distances.

Sayre Breaks National 25K Record

Roger Sayre, 65, of Golden broke the existing U.S. masters 65-69 25K record in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Competing in the Amway River Bank Run, Sayre stopped the clock at 1:40:41. The existing record of 1:41:39 held by Alex Ratelle was set thirty-two years ago.
