A jubilant marathon weekend was darkened by the death of Ryan Shay during the Men’s Olympic Marathon Trials in New York’s Central Park in November. The 28-year-old runner collapsed a little over five miles into the race.

Adams State College Women Win Fifth Straight NCAA XC Title, Grizzly Men Tie For Second

Led by seniors Tanya Gaurmer (Westminster, Colo.) and Brittany Somers (Los Alamos, N.M.), junior Lavenna Mullenbach (Georgetown, Texas) and three other All-America performances, the Adams State College women's cross country team won a fifth straight and 13th overall NCAA Division II National Championship in record-setting fashion at the Missouri Southern State University.

My wife has finished nine marathons, but she recently completed a marathon of a different sort. Our son, Alex, was born in late September. The nursing staff at the hospital kept telling her during labor that she should pretend she was nearing the finish of a marathon. Jessica, however, wasn't fooled.

2007 Denver Marathon Builds Strength and Inspiration in Second Year

The 2007 world-class Denver Marathon will ring in its second year with unprecedented sports momentum and almost double the number of race registrants as last year for the annual race that will occur in the Mile High City on Sunday, October 14, 2007. Approximately 10,000 participants are planning to participate over race weekend, which includes a marathon, a half-marathon, ING marathon relay and the McDonald(1)s Mile Kids Race. The McDonald(1)s Mile Kids Race, which has doubled in size since last year, will now be held on Saturday, October 13. The race day will draw runners from around the world and more than 1,200 volunteers will join together again to help make the event a success over the course of race weekend.

Boulder’s Laura Bennett Grabs First U.S. Triathlon Team Olympic Spot

Second alternate in 2000. First alternate in 2004. Olympian in 2008. As runners, we get up early to exercise in the morning before going to work and often give up fun with friends and family to exercise in the evening. We set our sights on a goal, whether to run a fall marathon or improve our time in a 5K, and work endlessly to achieve it.
