Almost 1,000 runners and walkers took part in the third and final installment of Colorado Runner’s Winter Distance Series at Hudson Gardens in Littleton Saturday morning.  The Snowman Stampede 5 and 10 milers played host to some of Colorado’s top athletes including those that took part in both events –  known as doublers.  What’s more, the 10 miler was chosen as the Road Runners Club of America 10 Mile Western Regional Championship.  Broomfield‘s JJ Ricket took the 10 Mile Championship in 56:49 for the men, while Abby Depperschmidt of Fort Collins won the Championship for the women in 1:04:26.  Check out the top finishers in both events below.

As mentioned above, 19-year old Ricket won the men’s 10 mile race in 56:49, with second place finisher Andrew Knutsen of Lakewood close behind in 57:04.  Not far behind was the 2013 Snowman Stampede 10M Champ, Tristan Mitchell, who crossed the line in third in 57:17.

The women’s race was close, with 29-year old Depperschmidt grabbing the win in 1:04:26.  40-year old Bean Wrenn of Boulder grabbed second in 1:04:45, and rounding out the top three was 23-year old Julia Veseth in 1:06:11.

The men’s 5 mile race saw Colorado Springs resident Adam Rich take top honors in 26:08.  Littleton’s own Jay Luna finished second in 27:07, with 46-year old Todd Strake finishing third in 27:58.

In the women’s 5 mile race, Lori Walker of Broomfield crossed the line first in 30:30, with Ashley Luna finishing second in 31:13.  Rounding out the top three was Denver’s Jocelyn Petrella Gallagher in 31:38.

That wraps up the 2013-2014 Winter Distance Series.  Colorado Runner’s next event is the Greenland Trail 50K, 25K and 8M on May 3 in Larkspur, CO.  Visit http://greenland50k.com/ for full race information.  We hope to see you there!
