The 9^th Annual Run for the Ring 5K Run/Walk and Kid’s Fun Run, presented by Diamond Homes, is on Saturday, August 5, 2023, starting at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes (BDC). Early bird race entry for adults and the Kid’s Zone/Fun Run is now open through 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2023. Last year’s Run for the Ring hosted over 450 runners, walking enthusiasts, and kids having a great time for a great cause. This year’s race is expected to continue growing, with more patients and families coming together.

Run for the Ring joins BDC patients, loyal supporters, and athletic aficionados to run (or walk) for the brass ring – the cure for diabetes. All proceeds from this event support the efforts and programs of The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation, whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of Barbara Davis Center patients living with type 1 diabetes and their families through education, support, advocacy, and research.

Day-of registration begins at 7:00 a.m. at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes on the Anschutz Medical Campus at 1775 Aurora Court, Aurora, Colorado, 80045. The 5K Run/Walk and Kids Zone starts at 8:00 a.m., followed by the Kids Fun Run begins after the 5K Awards Ceremony.

5K Run/Walk and Fun Run registration includes breakfast bites, timing chip (5K only), race bib, awards ceremony, entrance to the Exhibitor Expo, and a Run for the Ring performance t-shirt and post-event foam party. Participants must register by July 15, 2023, to guarantee a t-shirt.

Run for the Ring is fun for the whole family and gives participants the opportunity to make a difference for people affected by type 1 diabetes by creating a race team and a fundraising page. Race teams enjoy race day with their family, friends, or co-workers. They make up fun team names, decorate t-shirts, or wear costumes. Fundraising pages allow friends and family to raise awareness for the cause and support their type 1 hero.
