Kassahun wins ADT Marathon in Colorado Springs

His head was focused on the 26.2 miles before him. But as Jemil Kassahun toed the line for the start of the American Discovery Trail Marathon, his heart was elsewhere. He wanted to run a qualifying time for the Boston Marathon. And he nailed it. Kassahun, 18, a student at the University of Colorado, ran from Palmer Lake to America the Beautiful Park in Colorado Springs to win the ADT Marathon in 2 hours, 50 minutes, 21 seconds.

Ian Sharman and Devon Yanko Claim Victory at Leadville Trail 100

Aug. 19 and 20 marked the 35th annual Blueprint for Athletes Leadville Trail 100 Run, presented by New Balance. More than 600 runners from all 50 states and 35 countries came to Leadville, Colo., to compete in the iconic ‘Race Across the Sky’ and run 100 miles through the challenging Colorado Rockies terrain with elevations ranging from 9,200 to 12,600 feet, with a total elevation climb of more than 14,000 feet.

TransRockies Run Final Recap

The Kahtoola Stage Four route from Nova Guides to Red Cliff totaled 14.5 miles (23.3km) and 2,800 feet (854 meters) of elevation gain. After leaving Nova Guides, runners had to climb uphill on very steep terrain for two miles making this stage a real leg burner. At 8 a.m. the RUN6 runners and crew that wanted to run left Nova Guides with the traditional AC/DC's Highway to Hell song blasting while spectators cheered them on.

Pizzo Repeats at Steamboat Stinger Half Marathon

Hundreds of runners and mountain bikers flocked to Steamboat Springs for the 7th Annual Steamboat Stinger. The mountain biking events took place on Saturday and the trail running events took place on Sunday, with titles on the line for the top male and female finishers in each day's headlining events.

Middaugh, Paterson Capture XTERRA Beaver Creek Crowns

Josiah Middaugh and Lesley Paterson captured the ninth-annual XTERRA Beaver Creek Championship race elite titles on a picture-perfect morning in the Rocky Mountains surrounding Avon, Colorado. The win is Middaugh’s fifth straight here on his home course (he lives a mile from the start line) and his third in a row on the XTERRA Pan America Tour this year. For Paterson, the two-time XTERRA World Champ, it’s her first XTERRA victory of the year and in her first try on this course.
