Denver Reopens civic center Park

Part of Denver's Civic Center Park has reopened after a two-month shutdown. The park is used for many downtown road races, such as the Denver Hot Chocolate Run, which was moved into Washington Park last month, due to the closure. Denver’s health department shut down the park in mid-September and, crews have been busy cleaning the park and making restorations.

Pikes Peak Marathon and Ascent Move to September

The Pikes Peak Marathon and Ascent are moving to September in 2022. For the first time in its 67-year history, the iconic Colorado races will be held after Labor Day. The new dates are on September 17 and 18, 2022. Organizers say there are several reasons for the change from August.

Makena Morley, a former CU Buff runner, powered away from the women’s field to win her first USATF title, while Abbabiya Simbassa outkicked the men’s field to increase his USATF Running Circuit standings lead at the USATF 25 km Championships presented by Toyota.

Denver Looks to Create 5280 Trail

A project of the Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP), the 5280 Trail is a 5.280 mile trail that, once complete, will encircle downtown Denver, connecting neighborhoods and landmarks. When the design process for the trail began in 2019, it drew comparisons to New York City’s High Line. In an interview with Rocky Mountain PBS last month, officials with the DDP said the project that most inspired them was the Cultural Trail in Indianapolis.
