Colorado native Megan Kimmel has been dominating the trail running scene for years.  Her accolades include big race wins such as Run the Rut 28K this past September, the North Face 50 Mile Championship in December, the 2015 Flagstaff Sky Race 39K (where she was also third overall), and a second place finish in the highly competitive international 2015 Skyrunner World Series.  A "Jill of all trades" in the mountain, ultra and trail community, Megan has, and continues to excel in various disciplines.

Fulk-Gray, Brasovan Win Hot Chocolate 15K; Crespin, Leer Win 5K

The smell of chocolate was in the air Sunday morning as the popular Hot Chocolate 15K and 5K made its annual stop to Denver.  The event surpassed last year's numbers and welcomed over 7,000 runners and walkers in both race distances.  Every single participant received a full zip jacket in his and hers styles, and a finisher mug filled to the brim with chocolate fondue, dippable snacks and decadent hot chocolate.  What's more, the relatively flat course starting and finishing at Civic Center Park made for a great race with fast times across the board.

Aziz, Arendt Win Farmers 5000

Almost 500 participants toed the line for the 35th Annual Farmers 5000 in Wheat Ridge. It was a picture-perfect morning, with sunny skies, warm temperatures and a fun atmosphere. Hosted by - and supporting - Wheat Ridge High School, the event raises funding to support various educational and special programs within the school, as well as promote physical fitness and community spirit. With the course winding its way in and around the suburban Wheat Ridge neighborhood, runners and walkers were treated to a relatively flat course.

“The Runner Box” Colorado Runner of the Month: Clare Gallagher

Boulder’s Clare Gallagher won the 34th annual Leadville Trail 100 in July, in her first try at the distance, and in the second fastest time ever. The 24 year old, who was second in the state cross country meet back in 2008, tells us how she did it, and we celebrate her success with this month’s “The Runner Box” Colorado Runner of the Month prize.

Salomon’s Clare Gallagher Snags Leadville Trail 100 Title in 100-Mile Debut

Clare Gallagher of Boulder, Colorado carried Salomon colors to victory in the 2016 Leadville Trail 100, setting the second fastest women’s time in the race’s 33-year history. In her first attempt at the 100-mile distance, the 24-year-old reached the finish in 19 hours, 27 seconds, two hours faster than second-place Maggie Walsh and good for fifth overall behind Ian Sharman of Bend, Oregon, who nabbed his third Leadville men’s victory.

Jimenez, Crouse Win Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon

Running novices, veterans, and everyone in between came out for the 38th Annual Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon (GTIS).  The scenic race attracts runners of all shapes and sizes for its beautiful mountain vistas, rolling downhill course, and hopping post-race party.
