Addison Ritzenhein Named 2023-24 Gatorade National Girls XC Runner Of The Year

In its 39th year of honoring the nation's most elite high school athletes for excellence on and off the field of play, Gatorade announced Addison Ritzenhein of Niwot High School as the 2023-24 Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. Ritzenhein was selected from more than 300,000 other student-athletes who compete in high school girls cross country nationwide.

You couldn't script a better end to Addison Ritzenhein's cross country season than what happened in the final race of the season. Despite finishing third at NXR Southwest, which was her only loss of the year, the Niwot High School sophomore found redemption only a few short weeks later, winning her very first Nike Cross Nationals title on Dec. 2 in Portland, Oregon.
