Team USA nets 8 medals at World Mountain and Trail Running Championships

Four days of action wrapped up today, September 28, in Canfranc, Spain, at the World Trail and Mountain Running Championships with Team USA securing eight medals at the competition.

An individual bronze by Anna Gibson and a team bronze for the men’s team on Thursday, at the Uphill 6K started the podium tally. On Saturday, four medals were added to the count with individual gold for Jim Walmsley and Katie Schide and team silver for the men and women in the 82K Long Trail race. The women’s team captured a silver medal in the Classic 14K race on Sunday.

Team USA was just shy of the podium at the Short Trail 45K on Friday, with fourth place team finishes for the men and women.

These results provided Team USA with a bronze medal in the Overall Federation Team Award with a mark of 4279 points behind gold medalist France with 4333 points and silver medalist Italy with 4315 points.
