They say records are meant to be broken.
I don’t exactly know who “they” are, but the saying definitely rang true Saturday morning in Boulder.
While the Buffs were clawing their way back into the game against USC a few miles north, the 2023 edition of the Pat Patten Invitational was indeed historic.
Both boys and girls course records fell.
And both records fell to Mountain Vista (AKA Vista Nation) runners.
In the boy’s race Benjamin Anderson continued to rage over the course like he has all season.
Anderson wasn’t the only one from Mountain Vista rewriting the record books.
Peyton Adams clearly loves this course – or – she definitely knows how to race it. A year ago she won here, running 18:23.
While she did defend her title, what she took this time around was an 11 year-old course record, which previously belonged to Isabelle Kennedy at 18:07.
The Mountain Vista junior demolished the previous course record to become the first girl to crack 18-minutes on this course.
