The first-ever Stego Stampede over Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison, Colorado is a fun run (2 miles) for all ages (and dogs on leash) where costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded for best dressed, most team spirit, etc. This event highlights the dinosaur fossils embedded in Cretaceous and Jurassic sandstone layers along the paved road that crosses the hogback east of Red Rocks giving lovely views along the Front Range and Denver. Following the run participants are invited to enjoy a Paleo ArtFest in the parking lot of the Dino Ridge Visitor Center where free entry to the exhibit hall is part of an SCFD Free Day experience. On the west side of Dinosaur Ridge at the Martin G. Lockley Discovery Center, free admission to the new Deep Time Detour exhibition will also be happening all day. Commemorate Colorado’s 150th birthday at the site of the first ever Stegosaurus fossil find that led to the naming of what is now Colorado’s official state fossil!
