Running Doesn’t Wear Down Your Cartilage

Numerous studies have shown that, contrary to what your sedentary friends may sometimes argue, running does not cause arthritis. New research shows, in fact, that running may actually help strengthen your joints against future wear and tear, says Jean-Francois Esculier, leader of research and development for The Running Clinic (headquartered near Montreal, Canada) and a medical professor at the University of British Columbia. 

Are Thicker Shoes Faster?

The recent disqualification of the Derara Hurisa from the Vienna marathon was the first high-profile disqualification of an athlete for a violation of the new footwear rules from World Athletics on the roads. Hurisa’s shoe, the Adidas Adizero Prime X, had all the ingredients of a super shoe, including better foam with rigid pieces embedded. But it had one distinctive quality: It was thicker than the current regulations allow.

Denver Looks to Create 5280 Trail

A project of the Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP), the 5280 Trail is a 5.280 mile trail that, once complete, will encircle downtown Denver, connecting neighborhoods and landmarks. When the design process for the trail began in 2019, it drew comparisons to New York City’s High Line. In an interview with Rocky Mountain PBS last month, officials with the DDP said the project that most inspired them was the Cultural Trail in Indianapolis.

More than 80 runners rescued in Snowstorm at Utah ultramarathon

When snowflakes started falling a few miles into a 50-mile ultramarathon through the Utah mountains, Annie Macdonald was not worried. As an experienced long-distance runner, she had expected some snow. But then the stray flakes turned into a near whiteout, lashing participants of the DC Peaks 50 race with winds of up to 40 miles per hour.

Brother Sister Duo Set Six Masters Records

On Saturday, September 25, the Boulder brother and sister duo of Daniel King, 62, and Laura Bruess, 60, each broke three existing U.S. masters track records (pending verification) in Lynn, Massachusetts.

Colorado Runners on Top at Sky Race

Two Colorado runners won at the Broken Arrow Skyrace on Sunday, October 3, a three-day event held at the Palisades Tahoe resort in Olympic Valley, California. Joseph Gray, 37, Colorado Springs, and Janelle Lincks, 28, Thornton won the event.

Colorado Springs Marathon Held Saturday with 1,000 runners

The 7th annual Colorado Springs Marathon presented by Centura Health welcomed more than 1,000 runners to downtown on Saturday, October 2nd.  Seasoned runners and those tackling their first 5k took part in the event with four events to choose from.
