Conditions were cool with temperatures in the low 60s under overcast skies at the 7 AM start of the USATF 30km Trail Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Saturday, July 30. Hosted by Mad Moose Events as part of the Pikes Peak Ultra 30K, this was the first time a USATF trail championships had been staged at this distance.

Cool mountain air and the rising sun greeted participants of the 40th Annual La Sportiva Vail HillClimb.  Named best trail race by Colorado Runner in 2006 and 2011, the HillClimb tests runners with a 7.7 mile and 2,200' of elevation gain from Vail Village to Mid-Vail along the historic gravel double-track route that has made the HillClimb a favorite among trail running enthusiasts.

Longmont's Addie Bracy turned a disappointing season on the track into happiness on the mountain. Bracy raced the U.S. mountain running championships in early July - her first trail race ever - and came away victorious. She'll lead the U.S. team into worlds in Bulgaria in September. Over 2,000 runners, walkers and spectators converged on City Park for the 6th Annual Jodi's Race for Awareness 5K.  Benefiting the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance (COCA), the event and organization's mission is to promote awareness and early detection of ovarian cancer through advocacy and education while providing support to people affected by ovarian cancer.  All funds raised support women in Colorado through COCA programs.
