Hailing from Rangeview High School in Aurora, Colorado, Abdinasir Hassan took his freshman 2025 track season by storm, cementing himself as one of the top rising stars both statewide and nationally.
Fall 2024 XC: Hassan had a steady start to his high school cross country career. His performances over the 5K distance were promising, highlighted by a 16:26 personal best at the Pat Amato Classic. He finished 11th at the Colorado 5A Region 1 meet, but faced a tough day at the Colorado 5A State Championship, finishing 103rd overall. Nevertheless, considering his freshman status, Hassan still had an incredible first year. The fall season served as his introduction to high school competition, few could have predicted the explosive growth that would follow in the spring.
Spring Track 2025: If the fall was Hassan planting himself in the soil, then the spring was his full bloom. Emerging from winter in flying form, he went on to win five 3200m races, including a standout victory at the HOKA St. Vrain Invitational with a time of 9:15.07, good enough to qualify for the 5A Track and Field State Championship in the event. In the same meet, he clocked an impressive 4:18.97 in the 1600m, also securing his spot at the state meet in that event.
