Moving back to the Class of 2028 for this week, Maeve Vancik of Arapahoe High School is our next future star! After running 17:52 at Desert Twilight, placing an impressive 7th overall in the sweepstakes division, Vancik is proving to be one of the best runners in all of Colorado, not just for sophomores.
Looking at her progression from her freshman year to her sophomore year, Vancik has improved by over a minute and in some cases 2-3 minutes from this season to last season. She has broken 18 minutes twice already this season, with a personal best time of 17:26, running that time at Liberty Bell.
In all of her races so far this season, Vancik has finished in the top 10. That stat becomes even more impressive considering the races on her schedule with the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede, Arapahoe Warrior Invitational, Liberty Bell, and now Desert Twilight. Every single one of those races showcased some of the best teams and individual talents in the whole state!
