Coming from the south side of Colorado Springs, rising senior Shawn Kipchumba of Thomas Maclaren Charter School stands out as the top returning boy in all of Class 2A.

Fall XC 2024: Last fall, we saw a breakout season from Shawn Kipchumba, who made significant strides in his racing and established himself as one of the top distance runners in Class 2A. He clocked a personal best time of 16:31 for 5K at the Colorado 2A Region 3 meet, where he placed a strong 3rd overall and stood out as the top junior in the entire field. Building on that result, Shawn delivered an impressive performance at the state meet, finishing 5th overall, trailing only four senior competitors in a competitive race.

Throughout the entire 2024 season, Kipchumba demonstrated consistency, never finishing outside the top 8 in any of his races. As we look ahead to the upcoming 2025 cross country season, all eyes are on Shawn. Entering his senior year, he is the top returner in 2A Region 3 and the entire 2A classification, making him the clear favorite to win individual titles at both races. Kipchumba is poised to take command and chase the individual title this fall.
