Former Denver, CO resident and endurance athlete Sonja Wieck makes her way to the small screen leading Team Iron Cowboy on Amazon Prime Video’s newest competitive series World’s Toughest Race Eco-Challenge Fiji. The show premiered August 14, 2020 in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

World’s Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji is a 10-episode adventure series, hosted by Bear Grylls and executive produced by Mark Burnett, tells the story of the ultimate expedition race, in which 66 teams from 30 countries race non-stop for 11 days, 24 hours a day, across hundreds of miles of rugged Fijian terrain complete with mountains, jungles and oceans.

In support of the show, Sonja will be launching and hosting “Tales of Toughness” podcast, where fans of the series can tune in each week, listeners will hear from adventurous endurance athletes first-hand who competed in the “World’s Toughest Race Eco-Challenge Fiji” and have also dealt with tough stuff in their own lives. Sonja will ask her guests about how they got back up when they were down, their challenges, successes, failures, worldviews, habits and more and offer insight to inspire each listener’s own personal growth. Audiences will get a better understanding of what makes high-performers tick, how to overcome limiting beliefs and develop a deeper awareness into why these athletes compete. Sonja’s goal is to help others develop more confidence and toughness both mentally and physically. “Tales of Toughness” will be available to stream and download across all digital platforms including Apple and Spotify.

Sonja called Denver home for 15 years along with her husband and daughter where the triathlete started her Ironman journey where she endurance trained at parks and fitness centers around the city. In just five years, Sonja went through a life-altering transformation that led her to being one of the top Ironman champions and competitors in the world within her age group 35-39.  Now, at the ripe age of 40, she is a 6x Kona Ironman World Champion Qualifier and Competitor, has participated in 18 Ironman races, came in 2nd place at Kona’s Ironman World Championships Female 35-39 age group (2015), was named the Ironman All World Female 35-39 Champion (2013), Tokyo’s Joe’s Athlete of the Month (2014), participated in multiple Ultramarathons finishing up to 100 miles, ran the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim in 12 hours, was named the Moab 100 mile Female Champion and 2nd overall (2010) and that’s just the tip of the iceberg to her accomplishments.

Her mission is simple: to encourage men and women of all ages that you can push yourself to do the impossible, but if you strive for success and achievement for your own ego, you will be left unfulfilled. It is when you pursue your dreams for your own personal growth, you learn the most about yourself, and are able to show up best for others around you. Sonja wants people to know life is about more than ourselves but giving back and helping others, and this is what is missing from competitive sports.
