The new, earlier start time for the 32nd Annual Resolution Run 5K at Wash Park in Denver provided sunshine and mild temperatures for the New Year’s Eve event.  Benefiting the Volunteers of America Colorado, the race is a community favorite, boasting a flat and fast course and fun post-race celebration.  The youngest runner/walker was 4 years old and the oldest was 85 years old!

While hundreds of runners and walkers take part in the 5K, only the first 100 finishers are timed, with the top 5 male and female finishers receiving awards.

The men’s race saw a close finish between first and second, with Brian Folts of Golden grabbing the win in 16:45, and 22-year old Michael Nothem a close second in 16:58.  Rounding out the top three was 40-year old Dave Fagan in 18:11.

In the women’s race, 20-year old Darby Gilfillan not only took top honors but finished third overall as well in 17:28.  Coming in second was 30-year old Monica Folts in 18:54, with Denver’s Sophia Galleher finishing third in 19:17.
