SUMMARY:Sam's Rainbow Run
DESCRIPTION:Sam was a remarkable young man whose life was tragically cut short in a plane crash in September 2022. At just 23 years old\, Sam had recently graduated from Colorado State University (CSU) in December 2021 and was pursuing his dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot. He began flight training in the summer of 2022\, but his journey was sadly ended far too soon. \nSam’s vibrant personality and infectious energy left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. To know Sam was to love him. His smile and laugh could light up any room\, and he had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. Sam came out to me\, his mom\, during his freshman year in college\, but being gay was just one facet of who he was. Sam was an incredible athlete—a skier\, climber\, golfer\, and more. He was also a dedicated and intelligent student\, as well as a loyal son\, brother\, cousin\, grandson\, and friend. Sam had a wide circle of friends who adored him\, and he is deeply missed by all. \nI started Sam’s Rainbow Run as a way to honor Sam’s legacy and keep his spirit alive. Sam was passionate about helping those less fortunate. All proceeds from Sam’s Rainbow Run are donated to the CSU Pride Resource Center\, which uses the funds to support students in need by assisting with tuition\, housing\, food\, or other essentials. This event is not only a celebration of Sam’s life but also a meaningful way to spread love and kindness\, values he held dear.

Participate in all 5 races for only $250!  \nThe Peak-to-Peak Summer Showdown kicks off with a heart-pounding 10K at Winter Park Ski Resort as a part of their annual Double Up race on June 14th. Next\, we are back at the Ski Resort with a magical Midsummers Nights 10K on June 26th. After that\, we have a family fun 5K with the Rendezvous Run for Independence on July 4th with the Winter Park & Fraser Chamber.  As an additional challenge for this year\, we’re adding a marathon!  Run 26.2 miles as part of the Crooked Marathon produced by Gemini Adventures on August 3.  To close it out: The Byers Peak Stampede Half Marathon hosted by the Shining Stars Foundation on August 23rd. So mark your calendars\, gather your crew\, and let’s make history together with the second annual Peak to Peak Summer Showdown Race Series. \nThis series will be scored using a combination of FIS World Cup point scoring and a weighted race difficulty scale.  Participants will run each race and based on how they finish\, acquire points.  This score will then be multiplied by a “race difficulty” factor.  We will take your top 3 scores and combine them for your overall total race points.  This is how we will determine a winner!  There will be an Open Men and Open Women category\, only.  For a more detailed scoring outline\, please click here. \n\n\n\nFor additional event details please visit the individual race pages: \n– Double Up Hill Climb: https://tinyurl.com/dbluphillclimb\n– Midsummers Night Race: https://tinyurl.com/evening10k\n– Rendezvous Race for Independence: https://tinyurl.com/runforind\n– Crooked Marathon: https://tinyurl.com/crookedmarathon\n– Byers Peak Stampede: https://tinyurl.com/bpstampede
