The brother and sister duo of Tyler and Tabor Scholl went one-two in the recent Miles for Smiles 5K held at the North Area Athletic Complex in Arvada. Tyler, 17, completed the course that started and finished on the track inside the stadium in a speedy 16:59. Big sister Tabor, 21, was next through the finish line in 18:27. Not to be outdone, Mom Stephanie cruised to victory in her age division with a 21:59.

In a race that celebrated youth, many young runners placed well. Eight-year-old Gavin Hall of Arvada topped the boys 12 and under division while 9-year-old Shea MacKin of Westminster bested the field in the girls 12 and under division.

The Miles for Smiles 5K benefits the Two Angels Foundation, which provides adaptive equipment so disabled children can experience the joy of outdoor play and live more normal lives. The race, which was produced by Right Start Race Management, features Jordyn’s Adaptive Dash where recipients of adaptive equipment ride, roll or walk their way across the finish line to the cheers of 5K participants and spectators.
