On Saturday, November 3, 2012 Tracy Eaves and Nevada Pokorney ran their 12th and final marathon for their One Day No ALS endeavor which they began in honor of their friend, Brian Day, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2009. The final marathon was the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. A name appropriate for the final run and eight months of running great distances to share Brian’s story and that of Lou Gehrig’s Disease so that someday…one day…we can live in a world without ALS. Before the final marathon, Tracy, Nevada, and the others that were running with them that day, including three friends, Nevada’s boyfriend, and [...]

The Ann Arbor Marathon was gorgeous with the course going through much of the campus of the University of Michigan. Although it was very humid with 90% humidity and very hilly, Tracy and Nevada continue to push through each race, though, as Tracy states, “These tough ones remind us that many others have it so much harder than we do and that encourages us [...]

Martian - 1 (2)

Tracy Eaves and Nevada Pokorney completed their third marathon for their One Day No ALS initiative. This race was held in Dearborn, MI, and while it was a wonderfully put together race, the day was rainy from the start. To top it off, the last eight miles were cold, windy, and rainy, but remembering that people with ALS endure an even greater hardship was their motivation to make it to the finish line. From the beginning of the run, Tracy and Nevada had other runners say that they recognized them from their other marathons, which Tracy said was very cool. In particular, other runners recognized the [...]

The second race was the Circular Logic Marathon in West Lafayette, IN and was an incredibly well-done event. Just ¼ mile into [...]

Tracy and Nevada

Two Michigan marathon runners, Tracy Eaves & Nevada Pokorney, are embarking on a year-long fundraising campaign to help a childhood friend by doing something they do well – running.  Brian Day, a Colorado Springs’ resident who was diagnosed with ALS in 2009, has been friends with Tracy since they were in kindergarten, more than 30 years ago. Tracy and Nevada will be running twelve marathons throughout 2012 to raise funds for ALS family assistance in honor of Brian.
