The 12th installment of the country’s largest celebration of outdoor lifestyle returns to Vail, Colo., June 6-9. To start the day, over 100 runners toed the start line at the Vail Pass Half Marathon, which climbed over 2,900 feet to a finish above 10,000 feet. Josiah Middaugh of Vail, a five-time winner of the Ultimate Mountain Challenge in the summer Teva Mountain Games took on two of the events in the  inaugural Winter Teva Mountain Games presented by Eddie Bauer. At the Eukanuba 10K Snowshoe Race presented by Ruff Wear on Saturday night, Middaugh, who is also a seven-time North American Snowshoe Champion, bested 2009 North American Snowshoe Champion Scott Gall by 23 seconds with finishing time of 47:16.
