Discover who is the fastest trail runner in Colorado on Saturday, May 4. The Greenland Trail 50K has been awarded the designation as Colorado’s State Championship 50K by the Road Runners Club of America. The 2012 Collegiate Peaks Trail Run took place on April 28 in Buena Vista, taking runners on a course that followed jeep roads, single-track trails and parts of the Midland Railroad. Three new course records were set. Stevie Kremer of Crested butte won the 25M in convincing fashion, destroying the old course record of 3:24:04 (Keri Nelson – 2009) by over 20 minutes with her time of 3:03:27. Josh Arthur, also of Crested Butte, finished the 25M in 2:48:09 and also crushed the previous best time of 2:57:09 (Justin Ricks – 2008) by exactly 9 minutes. The 2011 Greenland Trail Races saw a record number of finishers on an unseasonably warm day at the Palmer Divide. Below are some photos from the race. New this year, photographer Steve Glass set up at the finish line and took finish portraits of all who wanted them.
