Two Course Records Set At Greenland Trail Races
On a windy day on the Palmer Divide, two new course records were set at the fifth annual Greenland Trail 50K, 25K and 8M.
Gina Lucrezi set a new course record in winning the 8M in 53:19 while Justin Ricks set a new course record in winning the 25K in 1:36:27. For Justin, it gives him two course records as he also set the 50K course record in 2008.
Haven Barnes was victorious in the 8M in 49:39. Lindsay Krause was the first female in the 25K, running 1:56:51. In the 50K, Charlie Kelly became our first two time winner as he crossed the line in 3:51:56. Bronwyn Morrissey was the first female in the 50K, running 4:43:06.
Weather for this year's event was nearly perfect. Temperatures hoovered in the mid 40 throughout the day while Pikes Peak remained visible the entire race. The only downside was a nasty headwind that runners had to deal with while running the first four miles of each loop. however, this didn't dampen the spirits of the capacity crowd as nearly 500 of them finished the race.
The race was sponsored by The Colorado Running Company, Hammer Nutrition, LaSportiva, and Colorado Runner.
For the second year in a row, the event reached the full capacity of 550 runners before race day.
