Register for 200-Mile Wild West Relay in February – Donation Made to Haiti
Timberline Events LLC has announced that for every team that registers in February for the Seventh Annual Wild West Relay, a donation will be made towards the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
“As a small business owner, I was wondering what my company could do” said race director Paul Vanderheiden. “My business is already a member of 1% For the Planet, (1% of our revenues are donated to environmental organizations), but I wanted to do more, and I wanted it to go towards Haiti's future, when they aren't the news topic of the day. So I decided to become involved with Habitat for Humanity International.”
According to Habitat for Humanity’s website, “Habitat has begun to respond by addressing immediate relief efforts and long-term shelter solutions for low-income families. Based on current information and past experience with international disasters, Habitat is planning a multiphase strategy that includes early recovery and mid- and long-term responses.”
For every 12-person team that registers, a $100 donation will be made. For every 6-person Ultra team, a $50 donation will be made.
Also known in the running community as "Get Your Ass Over the Pass," the Wild West Relay is a 200-mile long distance team running relay race in northern Colorado that will take place on Friday and Saturday Aug. 6 - 7, 2010. According to Timberline Events, the event sponsor, the relay will start in Fort Collins at the Budweiser Tour Center, then wind through rural and isolated sections of northern Colorado and Wyoming, finally passing through several small mountain and ranching communities before reaching beautiful Steamboat Springs..
