Freedom Run 5K

July 4, 2010 (Evergreen, CO) - 8:00 AM
The Freedom Run 5K, held every July 4th, started in 1982 when 686 people turned out for the event. The race has become an annual tradition for the mountain area, drawing over 1,100 participants in 2008.
Funds raised by the Freedom Run will help Mt. Evans care for underinsured and uninsured patients as well as support numerous services including grief counseling, transportation for patients to medical appointments, respite care for family caregivers, and Camp Comfort, a bereavement camp for children.
This scenic 5K (3.1 miles) course follows gently rolling terrain through residential areas, beginning at Evergreen Middle School and ending at Nick's Pro Fitness. Runners will start at 8 a.m.—followed by racewalkers who elect to be monitored by USATF-certified racewalk judges—and then participants in the fitness walk. In the interest of safety and fairness to competitive runners, well-behaved dogs and strollers will only be allowed at the back of the fitness walk.
Race participants and their families and friends are invited to join the finish-line festivities at Nick's Pro Fitness. Enjoy great refreshments, music, prizes, and lots of clean mountain air! Take advantage of other club facilities, including the showers. Snack tickets for family and friends will be available for $2 each at the finish line. Complimentary sports massages courtesy of Colorado School of Healing Arts will also be available.
