It was a perfect March morning in Colorado Springs for the annual 5K on St. Patrick’s Day. Nearly 3,500 runners registered for the race, which is followed by the biggest free event in Colorado Springs, the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Tommy Neal of Colorado Springs took the victory in 15:27. He was followed by Sean Brown in 15:45 and Kenny Foster in 15:46. On the women’s side, Amanda Ewing of Colorado Springs finished first in 19:08. Moody, Maiyo Win Classic 10K in Colorado Springs

Tera Moody surged to victory on the super fast Classic 10K course in Colorado Springs on Saturday. Her winning time of 33:58 was just under 30 seconds faster that Collen De Reuck of Boulder, who at age 47 still continues to run at an incredibly fast pace. In the men’s race, Augustus Maiyo of Colorado Springs won with a time of 30:01. Josh Eberly of Gunnison placed second in 30:20, and Charles Hillig of Denver was third in 30:31. A total of 858 participants competed in the 16th Annual City of Thornton Cottonwood Classic 5K held at the Thorncreek Crossing Shopping Center (120th and Washington) on Saturday, May 21 under sunny skies. The slightly new course (due to new road construction) proved very fast with Zach Mares clocking a 16:04 and Nicole Aish an 18:14 to win the overall male and female running divisions over the 3.1 mile certified course.
