5. The race was dominated by a group of college runners from Illinois staying in Colorado for a summer training camp. These three runners blitzed through the 6000' altitude and rolling hills at 6:00/mile pace.

6. The wide trails of South Valley Park make it easy for people to run together. The Swallow Trail is a hiker only trail that is 1.3 miles long with a gradual downhill to the south, meaning that runners had to finish coming back up this hill.
