1. Katie Follet of Ft. Collins and Keara Sammons of Smoky Hill duke it out at two miles in the 5A girls race. Keara was the eventual winner, breaking the tape in 18:12. Last year, Keara finished fourth and was one of the few people who actually ran faster in 2005 that in 2004. Katie had problems arise over the last mile of the race and was forced to drop out before finishing.

2. A trio of perenial top finishers in Colorado HS XC run together at two miles. Meredith MacGregor of Fairview, and Ellie Rastall and Danielle Parry of Rocky Mountain (L to R). Meredith finished third in 18:37, Ellie Rastall moved up from sixth last year to take runner-up honors this year (18:35), and Danielle moved up from fifith last year to fourth this year (18:45).

4. Steven Weeks of Arvada repeats as boys 5A champion, taking the title in 15:55.

5. Richard Medina (16:10) of Grand Junction HS and Noah Shannon (16:23) battle it out at 1.5 miles. Richard would pull away to finish in second as Noah finished third and helped Ft. Collins win the team title.

7. The next Colorado high school sensation? Kaitie Vanatta, a freshman at Ralston Valley HS runs away from everyone in the girls 4A race, winning by almost a minute in the second fastest time of the day, 18:20.

9. Mohamud Ige of Denver South moves up one spot from last year to take the 4A crown, running away from the field to the fastest time of the day (15:39).

13. Steve Flint, a senior from Bayfield HS, moves up from fifth last year to win the 3A boys meet, running 16:27.
