1. The elites head out in the 15K. Charles Kamindo (#5) and David Kiruri (#1), both of Boulder, lead a contingent that includes Art Siemers of Golden (blue shirt in back on left), Greg Mitchel of Colorado Springs (blue shirt in back on left) and Austin Vigil of Ft. Collins (far left). Kamindo won the Colorado USATF 15K Championship in 47:04 while Kiruri was second in 48:04.

2. Austin Vigil of Ft. Collins finishes third in 48:31.

3. Brian Ream (left) and Riley Scott (right), both of Boulder finish 8th and 9th. Both runners came to Boulder via the University of Dayton in Dayton, OH, were numerious (well, OK, all) employees of Colorado Runner have many ties.

4. Kara Roy of Ft. Collins wins the female USATF Colorado 15K Championship, pocketing $500. Her winning time of 58:01 was 2 minutes faster than second place.

5. Elizabeth Roodell, also of Ft. Collins, finished second in 1:00:31.

6. Kelly Handel of Manitou Springs finished third in 1:04:18.

7. 18-year-old Lindsey Scherf of Scarsdale, NY was the outright winner in the 5K, runnning 17:21. Lisdsey is going into her sophomore year at Harvard. She is the current American Junior Record holder in the 10,000 meters (on the track) in 32:51.20. She was in Colorado for the summer for some high altitude training and needed some speed work.

8. Part of the festivities included a kids run of about 600 meters. Here a little one runs towards the finish.
