1. Bret Schoolmeester of CU and Kelly Christensen of Western State were together early in the race, but Bret would pull away over the final mile for the 16 second win (24:55 to 25:11). CU's mens team looked like a national championship team as their fifth man ran 25:51 on the rooling high altitude course in Boulder.

2. Both Adams State and Western State travel to BOulder to compete in the Rocky Mountain Shootout. Adams State beat defending National Champion Western State 22 to 35 in the DIviaion II scoring. Here, Michael York of ASU leads two WSU runners.

3. Christine Bolf of CU led from the gun in the women's race, running the 5.8K course in 20:53.

4. However, CU's bid for a dominate performance slowly died as Adams State poured on the heat, placing all seven runners in the top 14.

5. Brooke Kish of Evergreen wins the women's open USATF Colorado XC title in 22:21.

6. Colleen Stroud of Boulder finished a close second in 22:42.

7. Runners start out in the annual Rocky mountain Shootout XC meet in Boulder. Here, the open men get under way.

8. One half mile into the race, runners are treated with a nasty hill. They will climb this hill one more time before the finish.

9. Alamosa's Jason Hubbard led from the gun in the Men's Open 8K, running 26:11 to win the Colorado USATF XC title.

10. Aden Ahmed of Denver leads a pack about half way through the race. Aden finsihed second in 26:32. Also pictured are Ryan Deak of Aurora (64, fifth in 27:16), Kenyon Neuman of Boulder (91, fourth in 26:41) and Greg Winter (844, 13th in 27:59).
