
63,000 Runners and Walkers Help Raise $2.8 Million At Denver's Race For The Cure

1. The competitive runners in the 5K get lined up before
the start of the Race For The Cure. With 4 different start
times and 63,000 runners and walkers, Denver's Race For The
Cure is the largest in the country. This year, those athletes
helped raise $2.8 million for breast cancer research.
2. 9 News morning anchors Kyle Dyer (left) and Gary
Shapiro are live at the finish of the Race For The Cure.
3. Kirk Framke of Denver wins Denver's Race For The Cure
in 17:22.
4. Carrie Messner of Carbondale is the first female in
the competitive 5K run, finishing second overall in 17:27.
5. Diane Groff of Longmont is the first cancer survivor
to finish the competitive 5K run, crossing the line in a swift
21:57.
6. Bev Veals, a six year cancer survivor from Highlands
Ranch, finishes the competitive 5K run in 23:47.
7. Rene Koller of Arvada (24:34), Mary Bernard of
Bennett (24:42), Kathy Heimann of Niwot (24:25), and Megan
Yoder of Englewood (24:25) (left to right) come over the final
bridge towards the finish line at the Pepsi Center.
8. Many groups dressed up in pink and celebrated
together.
9. Survivors were treated to a breakfast throughout the
day.
