300 people showed up on this beautiful winter morning to compete in the final Pikes Peak Road Runners Winter Series Race. The race was almost cancelled because the temperature was above freezing. It was a nice and sunny day with beautiful blue Colorado skies and temperatures in the 40s and rising. There was not much wind to speak of at all.

This course, located in Black Forest, CO, just north of Colorado Springs, was mostly rolling hills on dirt and paved roads with elevation between 7000' and 7500'. Most of the course was within the forested area of Black Forest, thus there was some protection from any wind. The exception to this was the latter miles of the 20K course, which is more exposed. There were some terrific views of Pikes Peak and the Front Range mountains.

1. Jason Hubbard of Alamosa cruised to victory in the 10K, running 33:36.

2. Mike Booth of Winnapeg, Canada took the race out hard, finishing second in 35:10.

3. Adam Rich of Colorado Springs was third in 36:27.

4. Jennifer Hockman of Colorado Springs wins the 10K in 46:00.

5. Leighann Lawrentz of Colorado Springs was a close second in 46:08.

6. Annie Friesema of Colorado Springs was right on their heels, finishing third in 46:12.

7. Mike Wasson of Monument and Eric Peterson Colorado Springs run together just after 7 miles in the 20K. Mike finished first in 1:17:14 and Eric was second in 1:17:27.

8. Tera Moody of Boulder, CO wins the 20K in 1:26:47.
