1. Runners gather for the annual New Year's Day 5K in Ft. Collins. Following the race, there is a huge annual sale at Runner's Roost!

2. Race director Steve Cathcart sends the runners on thier way with a spraying bottle of Champagne.

3. Ryan Kirkpatrick runs away from the field to win the 5K (actually 3.25 miles) in 17:30. The next closest runner finished in 19:04.

4. Danielle Korb finished third overall and first female in 19:15.

5. Mercedes Gil finished as the second female and first masters runner, cutting the tape in 20:27.

6. Kent Oglesby finished third in the closely contested 50-59 age group in 21:31. THe top three were seperated by only 35 seconds.

7. Not everyone came out to try and run a fast time. Some participants walked the course and then enjoyed the food and drink (and huge sale) afterwards.
