1. 600 runners from around the world took place in the Maui Tacos 5K Fun Run held on the Saturday before the Maui Marathon and Half Marathon.

2. Katsuchi Fuchiwaki from Japan wins the Maui Tacos 5K in 16:18.

3. Jeannie Wokasch Young of Honolulu is the first female in 19:17.

4. Many runners from the United States as well as Japan ran in the 5K. Here, Shigeru Ogihira (578) from Japan and Scott Lehman of Lahaina, HI (377) finish in 21:38 and 21:39.

5. The race started at Whaler's Village in Kaanapali and traveld towards Lahaina before turning onto the trail along the ocean and running back to Whaler's Village.

6. Many couples ran the race together. Makoto and Yoko Yamamoto from Japan finish together in 25:57.
