Evan Appel of Dakota Ridge leads the pack on his way to the 5A Boys state title. Evan's winning time was 15:54. Also pictured are (front to back): Bobby Nicolls of Regis Jesuit (4th, 16:24), Dey Tuach of Thornton (DNF), Charles White of Cherry Creek (2nd, 16:10), and Martin Medina of Grand Junction (3rd, 16:18). Wheat Ridge won the team title, scoring 100 points to beat Arapahoe (132) and Cherry Creek (148).

Dakota Ridge teammates Alexa Rogers (left) and Kaitie Vanatta lead the 5A Girls race just past the two mile marker. Alexa would pull away in the final 200 meters to help Dakota Ridge to the most dominating performance of the day. Alexa's winning time was 18:41, the fastest of the day. Kaitie finished second in 18:48. Dakota's next three runners finished in fourth, ninth and 12th, helping them to a huge upset over top ranked Fort Collins (28 to 87).

Kevin Williams of D'Evelyn ran away from the 4A boys field, running 15:43, the fastest time of the day. Battle Mountain (Vail) eaisly won the team title (55 points), placing two runners in the top five. Liberty finished second and Niwot was third.

Erica Hinchcliffe of Greeley West helped propel her team to the title in the 4A girls division. Hinchcliffe was the individual champion, running 19:13.

Andrew Roberts of Lyons leads a pack of runners in the 3A boys race. Roberts was the individual champion, running 16:37. Victor Montoya (1072) of Rocky Ford finished second in 16:49, helping his team edge out Lyons for the team title, 75 to 87.

Sophomore Kaitlin Hanenburg from The Classical Academy had the largest margin of victory, winning the small school (3A) division by 55 seconds. Her 18:42 was betered only by Alexa Rogers in class 5A. The Classical Academy's team scorched the competition, scoring only 22 points (1st, 3rd, 5th, and 13th - 3A only scores four runners, but thier fifth was 17th). Peak to Peak was second with 77 points.
