A car crashed into a running store injuring six people – one critically and two seriously. The car went through the front of RNK Running and Walking in south Parker. South Metro Fire Rescue said the car, driven by a woman with a possible medical condition, traveled roughly 20 yards from the front to the back of RNK Running & Walking at about 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 29th. The fire department said one person was trapped in the vehicle but was eventually freed. Five people were sent to the hospital, including store employees and shoppers.

Eric Hurst, a spokesman for South Metro Fire Rescue, said the critically hurt person was a juvenile. Details on the child’s condition were not immediately released.

Trent Briney, an Olympic runner and a co-owner of the store, was among the injured.

He posted on Facebook at 6:30pm, “I’m okay and thinking of everyone.”

The store is extensively damaged tonight with a car remaining inside. Workers at South Metro Fire combed through the piles of debris, with shoes and apparel strewn about. Police say the vehicle that crashed into the running shop traveled westbound through a parking lot, striking another car, before it went inside the glass front of the business.

Sherry Corcoran, spokeswoman for Parker police, said investigators are working to determine the sequence of events.

“This is still an active scene,” she said. “They’re just trying to find the cause of the accident at this time.”

RNK Running is located in the Stroh Ranch area of south Parker at 13019 S Parker Rd.
