New fall course at Meadow Mountain this year
The La Sportiva Vail Trail Running Series, featuring Colorado’s most iconic trail races, is back for 2017!
Race courses will take runners up mountains, through forests and over streams in and around Vail. Races will take place Saturdays from May through September.
Runners can expect well-marked routes, fully-stocked aid stations, experienced volunteers and courses that are challenging for pros and enjoyed by beginners. Races are open to ages 13 and up.
New in 2017, The La Sportiva Trail Running Series will host a race on Meadow Mountain. The MeadowGold 5K and 10K will be the series finale.
Race director Kip Tingle says, “We are excited to partner with The Town of Minturn, USFS and Paragon Guides to bring a new and exciting trail running course to the series. The MeadowGold offers runners the unique opportunity to race on iconic Meadow Mountain, and with llama assistance from Paragon Guides we have the ability to offer aid station support to all runners.”
New for 2017, the 5K 5-Pack is now available! Race in all 5K races to compete for season awards. The 5K series cost is only $95.
VRD has also partnered with The North Face this year to bring high quality tech t-shirts to each race participant. These shirts will feature unique designs specific to each event.

La Sportiva Vail Trail Running Series Schedule
Race details are available at vailrec.com. Individual race costs are $33 for preregistration, $38 week-of registration or $45 on race day. For 5K races, the cost is $23 for preregistration, $28 week-of registration and $35 on race day. The Summer Solstice race cost is $38 for preregistration, $43 week-of registration and $50 on race day, with proceeds benefiting the Vail Valley Charitable Fund. The Camp Hale Half Marathon race cost is $45 for preregistration, $50 week-of registration and $60 on race day. Runners also can register for the entire seven-race series for $200.
