Poland, Becque Win The Great Candy Run

A picture perfect day set the scene for The Great Candy Run at Wash Park in Denver Sunday morning, with cool temperatures to start and warm, abundant sunshine at the finish.  The 5,300+ crowd of participants were treated to a sweet morning of race festivities, including a kids fun run, 5K race with prize money on the line and a fully stocked vendor village and post-race party.

The event continually attracts some of Colorado’s top athletes, and this year was no different.  The top finisher, 23-year old Ryan Poland, clocked a 15:05 on Wash Park’s classic loop.  The top female finisher came in at 17:40.  What’s more, the top stroller finisher came in at 17:19!  Read on to see how the rest of the top finishers fared.

Poland’s 15:05 topped the finisher list, followed by 28-year old Alejandro Jimenez in 15:40.  Rounding out the men was 29-year old Kenneth Foster in 16:09.

The women’s champion was 39-year old Claudia Becque in 17:40, with 18-year old Tabor Scholl close behind, coming in second in 17:52.  Crossing the line in third was 31-year old Ashley Luna in 18:35.
