Almost 3,000 runners, spectators and supporters came out for the 8th Annual Run the Rocks 5K at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison Sunday morning. The event, benefiting the American Lung Association in Colorado, provides a famous panorama of Red Rocks Park through the rugged terrain and hill/stair climb at the finish. Each year thousands take part in the race to show support for the ALA and enjoy a unique event in the heart of the Colorado foothills.
This year’s top finishers were duo Brian and Monica Folts of Lakewood. Brian took top honors in 18:39 and Monica took the win for the ladies and fourth overall in 21:22.
Second and third place male finishers were 24-year old George Hoyos in 21:02 and 19-year old Trey Devries in 21:13.
For the women, second place belonged to 37-year old Becki Lassley in 22:38, with 41-year old Heather Crosby rounding out the podium in 22:51.
