McNeil, Obsitos Win Home Sweet Home 10K; Bulson, Blasius Take 5K

On a beautiful fall morning, nearly 200 athletes took to the streets of City Park in Denver for the Home Sweet Home 5K/10K on November 9. Produced by Feet on the Street, Inc, this race benefited the Visiting Nurse Association.

In the 5K, Nick Bulson of Denver took top honors, crossing the finish line in 18:44. He was followed closely by Joe Meredith of Denver in 18:48 and Brad Birkey of Denver in 18:57. Tami Blasius of Denver took the female crown in 21:50. Danielle Bergmeier of Denver and Susie Ellison battled for second and third with Danielle pulling away at the finish to cross in 23:31. Ellison came in third in 23:39. There were 87 total finishers.

In the two lap 10K, Sean McNeil of Littleton pulled away from the gun and won in a very fast 34:45. His only pacer was the lead bike as he averaged 5:36/mile. Coming in nearly six minutes later was Colorado Runner publisher Derek Griffiths of Littleton. He finished second in 40:01 while Glenn Pezzulo of Lafayette followed closely in 40:22. On the ladies side, Monica Obsitos crossed the finish right a 7:00/mile in 43:38. Heidi Kumm of Lakewood and Carey Martinez-Sanchez battled to the line, with Kumm taking second in 47:17. Martinez-Sanchez finished two seconds later. There were a total of 82 finishers in the 10K.
