The sixth annual Hop, Skip & a Jump Start 5K saw record numbers Sunday morning outside the Denver Children’s Museum. Almost 200 5K participants and their children, friends and family gathered alongside the South Platte River Trail for a fast 5K race, Toddler Trot and Infant Crawl. It was a fabulous event for families and those just looking for a well-organized and fast 5K race.
The men’s race saw Ross Bryant take the win in 17:36, with second place finisher Steve Monroney coming in at 20:19. Rounding out the top three was Dusty Wadlington in 20:56.
The women’s race saw a couple of top finishers coming in with their strollers – and children – in tow. First place finisher Chelsey Russel crossed the line in 21:21, finishing up fourth overall. Second place belonged to Vibha Thomas in 22:31, and Bethany Friedlander finished up in third in 25:58.
Race participants reveled in the gorgeous Colorado fall weather while taking advantage of the post-race expo and celebration in front of the Children’s Museum. In addition to the multitude of family-friendly events at Crescent Park, participants enjoyed a stocked beverage and snack area as well as Radio Disney entertainment and music.
Proceeds from this event support the museum’s innovative programming, interactive exhibits, community outreach and sponsored admissions.
