Just over 100 runners took to the trails of Vail Mountain for the LaSportiva Berry Picker Trail Race, a five kilometer hill climb gaining 2,100 feet at and average grade of 14 percent.
Leading the way to the finish was XTERRA Champion Josiah Middaugh of Vail, crossing the line in 34:42. Just on his heels was Sylvan Ellefson of vail, who finished in 35:47. 16-year-old Callan Deline of Avon rounded out the top three in 36:33.
Master’s ace Susan Nuzum of Boulder dominated the women’s field, running 44:39 and winning by nearly two minutes. Heidi Vosbeck of Glenwwod Springs finished second in 45:56 while Danielle Erickson of Texas took third in 46:13.
